Season 66 may be the last season Shane McGregor will race for the team. As the first captain of the team, he managed to secure some great victories in late season 64 and early season 65, including a sprint classification jersey, however age is definitely a factor McGregor and the team are starting to take into account.
34 years old, going on 35, means McGregor will no longer be competitive for much longer. His wealth of experience is huge for the team, and he will likely carry on as a team trainer post retirement. Andres Skopal stepped up towards the end of last season, managing to attain some victories as vice-captain and captain on-road.
The teams focus now is fully on developing our younger talent, with captain potential beginning to be realized in Henk Ainscough, and Steven Hodgson potential as a key lead out when Henk takes over fully as captain. SP Roulers manager has confirmed that the team will support whatever decision McGregor makes. If he wants to continue racing in support of our captains on-road, we can accommodate that, but if he also chooses to retire, Henk is almost ready to take over, and will continue to benefit from the experience of the older riders of the team prior to becoming captain.

Maybe you'll have to wait until he turns 36.
